So you would recommend it?
I have now been looking unconsiously for a long time for a solid MMO, since I really enjoyed WoW, but didn't want to invest THAT much time, to really be playing on the top. I especially liked the different boss tactics and playing in a group (PvP wasn't made for me)
So currently, with the new WoW addon on the market, the urge to start over again, is stronger than ever. But I remember how it went last time - it was time consuming and that time had to be taken from other parts of my life. In my case school and relationship.
Needless to say, that both suffered, but recovered quickly as soon as I stopped playing.
Well now, as said, I am looking for an opportunity to start a MMO again. The girlfriend is no more but the school evolved to university. Reason enough for me to take one, that doesn't require a huge amount of time invested ...
Of course I heared of destiny, but to be honest, not quite good. It seems to be a spectacular game, but apparently a shitload of time is needed, until you get decent gear. And I really can't imagine what the "teamplay" looks like on consoles, since usually there is less bonding between players on consoles than on PC (Would like to get the game on Ps4)
You see, many questions I got there, but that's just due to the reason, that I am really careful, when it comes up to deciding which MMO to take.
tl;dr version: Are you sure you would recommend Destiny to players, that come from WoW, but want to invest less time in a game?

I feel exactly what you're saying.. I played Guild Wars instead of WoW because I didn't want to pay monthly but was uber addictive.. I'd say Destiny to be
like
an MMO-RPG but it is console based so some features are limited and wont be around.. the PvP is a lot like CoD:AW (played it at EGX and felt very Destiny-esque).. can do free for all.. 3v3.. 6v6.. 6v6 base capture.. it is really entertaining.. especially when you know your character inside out and go on the hunt to rape people..
The PvE is really tough.. the raids etc.. need a proper team going, not possible to solo.. I run with a few guys.. max. you can have in a fireteam is 6 and I know a few people that are on the game 24/7 (literally).. you get decent rewards and drops, each raid is refreshed weekly so you cant spam it.. you wont get drops.. only some cash/upgrade materials.. I would say it's far from as immersive as WoW/GW.. it's like Halo/WoW but not as in depth..
The single player story is the shittiest story I've ever played through.. everyone complains about it.. an inside source at EGX told me that the script writer left some months before release because of some issues with Halo and it was copyrighted to him so they had to whip something out quick-time.. also, Peter Dinklage is the
worst
gaming voice actor in history.. every player wants to have his character killed off.. he was great at being the imp on Game of Thrones, but is dreadful here!
Nevertheless, the true potential of the game unlocks once you hit level 20.. it's capped from here so the only way to level up is through light energy provided by your gear (blue, orange, purple - rare, exotic, legendary) classing, and upgrading the gear and weapons in-game via drops and rewards.. this can be a bit of a drag, particularly if you're playing alone and farming for materials to upgrade which is why I've been stuck on lvl 26 for months.. If you are to get it.. give the trial a go.. cant lose out.. I played the closed-beta and it was fantastic.. although I havent seen any improvements since (apart from fixing glitches/exploits).. if you are to get it on the PS4 we can SharePlay before you get your hands on it to your hearts content..
Bearing in mind that Bungie are dedicated to seeing this game run the full life service of the PS4 and will be constantly updating it for 10years (with 2 PlayStation exclusive DLCs coming in a weeks time)..
